Li Peng was premier from 1988 to 1998, during which he presided over the 1989 Tiananmen massacre, ordering a military crackdown against pro-democracy student protesters. He was also instrumental in the realisation of the Three Gorges Dam project. The book includes Li's speeches and reports on local economies in various provinces, cities, and villages in China.

The Rock and Roll community has lost another musician. Glenn Frey, who was a founding member of The Eagles, died Monday in New York of complications from arthritis, colitis and pneumonia. He was 67.
